Celiac Disease Test

Celiac disease is the immune reaction to the gluten protein in the gut sets off an inflammatory state that may cause diarrhea, abdominal cramping, distension, flatulence, weight loss, fatigue and malaise.

This test recognizes an auto-immune antibody called the Transglutaminase Antibody (TGAB) that causes the immune system to attack proteins that belong to the individuals own body. The TGAB is a definitive test for Celiac Disease, a medical disorder characterized by a reduced ability to digest wheat. The disease causes a toxic effect from the protein gluten, found in wheat. Eating wheat causes destruction of the lining of the intestine for these individuals.
